    I am currently using 1.0.9 version. May I know how to update it to the latest version? What are the steps?

    Also, will my content or layout be affect after the update?

    You can read document at link Updating the theme so information.

    Note: If you don't change file in our theme, then you can update theme that you don't lose any of your customization.
